PRIDE RIVER CROSSING Acceptance Speech for ALL OUT ARTS Fresh Fresh Festival Outstanding Playwright Award ... ptmc ... April 2013

"I want to thank the Academy ... no wait that's the wrong acceptance speech ... ah here it is ...

​Thank you ALL OUT ARTS Fresh Fruit Festival for recognizing the merit of PRIDE RIVER CROSSING: A Spoon River for the 21st Century, a play about language brought to life by Patrick Aran, Denise DeMirjian, Brian Linden, Miles Phillips, Laurie Strickland, Chantal Thomson, and Joshua Warr, with able design and advisory assistance by Susan Cook, Katherine Hammond, Lee Smith, Dianne Tack and Lewis Chambers. 

Pride River Crossing, an LGBTQ take on Edgar Lee Masters' Spoon River Anthology, had an eight day first draft birthing process, as an entry in Orange Hanky Productions Summer Playfest.  It's submission was rejected, as was its first attempt with the Fresh Fruit Festival. Then Pride River became a replacement show in the Festival with six weeks notice.  Pride River Crossing is living proof that rejection can lead to acceptance and rewards. Thank you for this honor."
